Nasir Uddin Sathi, chairman of private television channel MyTV, was arrested on Sunday evening by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police from Gulshan, Dhaka.
The arrest was confirmed by DB Joint Commissioner (South) Mohammad Nasirul Islam, who said Sathi is named in a murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station during the recent Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
“The case involves serious allegations of violence leading to death. The arrest was carried out under legal warrants,” he stated.
Sathi was taken into custody following a raid and is scheduled to be produced before the court on Monday. Authorities are expected to seek a remand to assist in the ongoing investigation.
