The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) on Sunday asked banks to freeze the accounts of Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, his wife Anjuman Ara Shahid and son Rahib Safwan Sarafat Chowdhury.
The BFIU has also asked banks to suspend all transactions conducted under their privately owned institutions.
The organisation has directed the suspension for 30 days under section-23 of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012.
It also said if there is any locker service in their name, its use would be cancelled for 30 days.
The BFIU also sought access to details of any bank accounts of any business organisation owned by Nafeez and his family within five working days from the issuance of the letter.
Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat is the chairman of Bangladesh RACE Management PCL and Padma Bank.
