Three members of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) were killed in a shooting incident in Panchhari Upazila, Khagrachhari.

The shooting occurred around 10:00 AM on Wednesday in the Shanti Ranjan Para area, as confirmed by Mohammad Jasim, chief of Panchhari Police Station.

UPDF District Organiser Angya Marma also verified the details of the incident. In response, the regional group has declared a dawn-to-dusk road blockade across the district for Thursday.

The victims have been identified as Sizan Chakma, Shason Tripura, and Joyen Chakma.

"We’ve received reports of the killings," said Jasim. "However, due to the remoteness of the location, we haven’t been able to reach the scene yet to retrieve the bodies. Tensions remain high in the area."

Angya said that a group of armed attackers opened fire on the UPDF members, killing the three men at the scene.

"The UPDF has demanded the arrest and punishment of those responsible. In a statement released on Wednesday afternoon, the organisation said, "Last year, these same attackers killed four individuals, including Bipul Chakma, in Panchhari's Pujgang. Yet no action was taken against them by the government or authorities."
