Courts Frame Charges Against Hasina, 99 Others in RAJUK Plot Scam Cases
Two separate Dhaka courts today formally framed charges in six corruption cases against 100 individuals, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, over alleged irregularities in the allocation of plots under the RAJUK Purbachal New Town Project.
Of the six cases, Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 Judge Rabiul Alam framed charges in three. One case involves 17 accused, including Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana; another names 18 accused, including Hasina and Azmina Siddiq; and the third names Hasina and Radwan Mujib Siddiq.
The court issued arrest warrants against the accused and set August 13 to begin recording witness testimonies.
Separately, Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun framed charges in three more cases. One involves 12 people, including Sheikh Hasina; the second lists 17 accused, including Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy; and the third includes 18 accused, including Hasina and her daughter Saima Wazed Putul.
Arrest warrants were also issued in these cases as the accused remain at large. The court scheduled August 11 to begin recording testimonies, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) public prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam told BSS.
Earlier, on July 22, both courts fixed today for the charge framing hearings. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib had forwarded the cases to the special courts on July 20, citing that they were ready for trial. The order followed repeated failures by the accused to appear before the court despite prior summons.

The ACC filed the six cases between January 12 and 14, 2025. Charge sheets were submitted by the investigation officers on March 10.
January 14: ACC Deputy Director Md Salahuddin filed a case against eight people, including Sheikh Hasina, for allegedly abusing power to obtain a 10-katha plot in Purbachal. A charge sheet against 12 was later submitted by ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya.
