Bangladesh and Pakistan are moving closer to reestablishing direct air connectivity, following a high-level meeting between civil aviation authorities of both nations held Wednesday in Dhaka.

The pivotal discussion took place at the headquarters of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), where Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, Chairman of CAAB, welcomed Nadir Shafi Dar, Director General of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, during his courtesy visit.

Both sides expressed strong interest in resuming direct flights between Dhaka and Islamabad, highlighting the potential to boost bilateral trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. The officials underscored that restoring air links would mark a significant milestone in strengthening regional ties.

Beyond connectivity, the meeting also focused on broader cooperation in aviation. Discussions included sharing technological expertise, enhancing capacity building, and fostering mutual collaboration to elevate the standards of civil aviation in both countries.

Senior representatives from CAAB and the CEO of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) were also in attendance, signaling institutional commitment to the initiative.
