Former US Vice President Al Gore has commended the global ‘Three Zero’ movement, launched by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, aimed at combating carbon emissions, wealth concentration, poverty, and unemployment.

The praise came during a meeting between the two at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday.

Gore, a prominent climate change advocate, expressed his support for the movement and Bangladesh's reform programs initiated by Professor Yunus’s interim government. The meeting also covered topics such as the July uprising, climate change, and the efforts to mitigate the adverse effects of global warming.

During the discussion, Gore emphasized his backing for Bangladesh’s efforts to fix its institutions and transition towards democracy through free and fair elections.

Professor Yunus also presented Gore with The Art of Triumph, a book showcasing graffiti and wall paintings from the July uprising, which Gore praised as "amazing" and highlighted the revolutionary spirit of Bangladesh’s youth.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus’s "Three-Zero Theory" is an innovative approach to addressing global poverty and inequality. The theory advocates for the elimination of three critical issues: zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions.

A Visionary Idea from Dr. Muhammad Yunus

Dr. Yunus believes that these interconnected goals are fundamental for creating a sustainable and just world.

The concept emphasises that poverty and unemployment are not inevitable but can be eradicated through social entrepreneurship and innovative business models that prioritize social impact over profit. Additionally, Yunus's focus on environmental sustainability aligns with the urgent need to combat climate change by promoting green, eco-friendly businesses.

Through the lens of the Three-Zero Theory, he envisions a future where people can thrive in an economy that is not only inclusive but also environmentally responsible.

His theory has gained significant attention from global leaders, including former US Vice President Al Gore, who lauded its transformative potential. By tackling these three critical issues simultaneously, Yunus believes society can achieve lasting economic stability and social equity while preserving the planet for future generations.

The Three-Zero Theory represents a bold vision for a new kind of capitalism, one that aligns the pursuit of profit with the well-being of humanity and the environment.
