Mustafizur Rahman is in stable condition after being hospitalised for a head injury suffered during a Comilla Victorians training session in Chattogram.

As a precaution, the left-arm seamer will remain under the care of medical specialists for a 24-hour observation period.

The incident occurred at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Sunday when Mustafizur was struck on the head by a ball, which left him bleeding.

He was rushed to the hospital for a CT scan, which did not revealed any serious injuries.

The Comilla franchise's physio SM Zahidul Islam Sajal later said Mustafizur will need to stay in the hospital for observation due to the nature of his head injury.

Mustafizur Rahman is now being closely observed by a team of neurosurgeons at Imperial Hospital, he said. His Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score is also perfect, indicating full alertness and consciousness.

As a result, he is deemed safe and is expected to join his team at the hotel after the 24-hour observation period, the physio said.

Despite requiring stitches for the injury, initial assessments by medical professionals suggest there are no major concerns for Mustafizur's health. He remains coherent, able to communicate effectively, and shows no signs of concussion, according to Sajal.

Dr Moinuddin M Ilyas, a consultant in the Neurosurgery Department at Imperial Hospital, said that the CT scan revealed a hematoma located outside the brain and skull, posing no immediate threat.

The incident took place when Mustafizur was bowling to Litton Das in the nets. As he walked back to his bowling mark after delivering the ball, he heard someone call out to him. Turning to look, he was unexpectedly struck on the left side of his head by a ball.

Mustafizur immediately clutched his head, prompting Comilla's head coach Mohammad Salauddin and teammates to rush to his aid.

He received initial medical attention on the field as blood was seen flowing from the wound.

Subsequently, an ambulance transported Mustafizur to the hospital for further treatment.

Mustafizur has 11 wickets to his name in nine matches at this year's BPL, returning his best figures of 3 for 32 against Fortune Barishal.
