Three Thakurgaon Footballers Honoured for SAFF Women's Championship Victory

Three footballers from Thakurgaon -- Sapna Rani, Kohati Kisku and Sagarika -- who led their team to victory in the SAFF Women's Championship for the second consecutive time were given a grand reception in their hometown Thursday.

Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Farzana accorded the reception to them at her office on Thursday afternoon.

Thakurgaon Police Superintendent Sheikh Zahidul Islam, Additional District Magistrate Sardar Mostafa Shahin, acting president of Thakurgaon Press Club Lutfar Rahman Mithu, founder of Rangatungi United Football Academy Tajul Islam, among others, were present in the reception ceremony.

The deputy commissioner listened to the success stories of the women
footballers and also assured them to stand by them.

Bangladesh won the prestigious SAFF women's championship for the second time in a row. Bangladesh women's football team won the championship after defeating the hosts Nepal 2-1 in the final at Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu.
