Bangladesh Crush Chinese Taipei in Asia Cup Hockey

Bangladesh bounced back from their previous defeat to beat Chinese Taipei 8-3 in their second Pool B match of the eight-team Men’s Asia Cup Hockey at Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium in Rajgir, India, on Saturday.

The Tigers took an early lead when Md Abdullah scored a field goal in the 4th minute. However, the lead was short-lived as Tsung-Yu equalized for Chinese Taipei in the 10th minute. In the second quarter, Tsung-Yu scored his second goal from a penalty corner in the 18th minute to give Taipei the lead, but Bangladesh responded strongly when Abdullah netted his second field goal in the 26th minute.

The third quarter saw Bangladesh dominate, scoring four goals in just nine minutes. Shohanur converted a penalty corner in the 36th minute, followed by two quick field goals from Rakibul Hasan in the 42nd minute. Ashraful Islam added another from a penalty corner in the 45th minute, taking the score to 6-2.

Captain Reazul Babu further extended the lead with a penalty corner goal in the 56th minute, and Ashraful Islam scored his second goal in the 58th minute to make it 8-2. Tsung-Jen scored a late penalty corner in the 60th minute for Taipei, concluding the match at 8-3.

Bangladesh will face five-time champions South Korea in their final group match on Monday at the same venue.

Earlier, Bangladesh lost 4-1 to Malaysia in their group opener, while Chinese Taipei suffered a 7-0 defeat against South Korea.
