BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Tuesday expressed profound shock and sorrow over the deadly fire that engulfed a garment factory and chemical warehouse in Mirpur’s Shialbari area, claiming at least 16 lives. He urged authorities to conduct a transparent investigation to ensure those responsible are held accountable.

In a post on his verified Facebook page, Tarique wrote:
"I am deeply saddened by the tragic fire at the Mirpur RMG factory and chemical warehouse that claimed so many lives. May Allah grant eternal peace to the departed souls and bless the injured with a swift recovery."

He noted that such heartbreaking incidents continue to recur, leaving families in grief and raising serious questions about workplace safety. Tarique emphasized the need for the nation to enforce proper safety standards to prevent further tragedies caused by negligence.

He added: "I call upon the authorities to take immediate and decisive action, ensure transparency in the investigation, and hold those responsible to account."

"My thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones and with all those affected," Tarique concluded.
