BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s health condition has improved slightly compared to earlier, according to hospital authorities. She is currently receiving treatment in a cabin at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.

Dr Shahabuddin Talukder, a specialist at Evercare Hospital, confirmed the development on Tuesday morning.

Khaleda Zia was brought to the hospital from her Gulshan residence on Sunday night (23 November) as part of her routine health check-up. Following medical board recommendations, she was admitted for further examinations and treatment.

Dr Talukder said that although her condition has improved, she is not yet in a condition to return home. “She needs to remain under close observation for a few more days,” he said.

Meanwhile, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman have been regularly checking on her health from London. In Dhaka, Khaleda Zia is accompanied by her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko’s wife, Syeda Shamila Rahman.

Earlier, on 15 October, Khaleda Zia was admitted to the hospital for a day for health examinations. She has been suffering from long-term complications related to arthritis, diabetes, kidney issues, lung problems, and various eye conditions.

According to BNP, there is concern within the party regarding the chairperson’s health, but decisions are being made strictly based on doctors’ advice. The party has also sought prayers from the nation for her speedy recovery.
