Police have been deployed at the village home of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inquilab Platform, since Monday morning following a burglary late Friday night. A team led by Bayeziid Ibn Akbar, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle), Jhalokathi, has been stationed to prevent any untoward incidents.

Hadi’s residence in the Khasmahal area of Nalcit town was targeted in the burglary. The national youth leader, critically injured after being shot in the head by two gunmen last Friday, is currently fighting for his life in a hospital in Singapore. Hadi is widely respected in his hometown of Nalcit Upazila for his leadership and patriotic work.

“Above all, his patriotism is remarkable. We urge authorities to apprehend those responsible for the attack on Osman Hadi immediately,” said Tauhidul Alam Manna, convener of the Nalcit Upazila Volunteer Group.

Maulana Shahjalal Hossain, president of the Nalcit Upazila branch of Islami Andolan, added, “Sharif Osman Hadi is not only an asset to Nalcit but to the entire country. He is a fervent patriot and a frontline fighter against fascism. We are always proud of him.”

Hadi’s neighbour, Shahadat Alam Fakir, said, “His family is devout, and his father, Maulana Abdul Hadi, was a righteous and upright man. Osman Hadi has inherited the same integrity. We pray for his safety and strongly demand that the culprits be brought to justice without delay.”

Ariful Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Nalcit Police Station, confirmed that the investigation into the burglary is ongoing.
