Inflation Eases Further to 9.32% in February

Inflation in Bangladesh continued its downward trend, easing further to 9.32% in February 2025, compared to 9.94% in January 2025.

According to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the decline was primarily driven by a reduction in food inflation.

In February 2025, food inflation dropped to 9.24%, down from 10.72% in January 2025, the BBS data revealed.

Meanwhile, non-food inflation saw a slight increase, rising to 9.38% in February, up from 9.32% in January 2025.

Inflation rates in both urban and rural areas also showed a decline last month. In rural areas, the point-to-point inflation rate was 9.51% in February, down from 10.18% in January 2025.

Rural food inflation decreased to 9.15% in February, compared to 10.61% in January, 2025. However, non-food inflation in rural areas rose slightly to 9.85% in February, up from 9.77% in January 2025.

In urban areas, the point-to-point inflation rate in February 2025 stood at 9.34%, down from 9.89% in January 2025. Urban food inflation also decreased to 9.47% in February, compared to 10.95% in January 2025, while non-food inflation rose slightly to 9.27% from 9.25% in January 2025.

The moving average of inflation from March 2024 to February 2025 was 10.30%, up from 9.66% in the same period a year earlier.

The wage rate index for February 2025 was 8.12%, showing a marginal decline from 8.16% in January 2025.
