Rooftop Warehouse Blaze Erupts at Gulistan Shopping Complex

A fire broke out at a godown on the rooftop of an eight storey shopping complex at busy Gulistan of Dhaka on Friday evening.  

The fire erupted from the warehouse houses on ‘Khaddar Bazar Shopping Complex’ around 5:28pm and engulfed fast surrounding, Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarter media cell, said.  

On information, firefighters from different stations, including Siddique Bazar, rushed to the scene and were working to bring the flames under control, he said.

The blaze started around 5:28 pm in a godown located on the roof of the eight-storey commercial building, confirmed Fire Service media officer Anwarul Islam.

Firefighters received the alert at 5:28 pm and reached the scene within five minutes, at 5:33 pm. Six firefighting units from Siddiq Bazar Fire Station are currently working to bring the fire under control.

So far, no casualties have been reported. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be immediately confirmed.
