Shaheed Ahmed Mojumdar, the youngest son of former MP Kamal Ahmed Mojumder, has been arrested by police on charges of murder and terrorism.
He was taken into custody near the Police Plaza in Gulshan at around 10pm on Saturday, said Hafizur Rahman, chief of Gulshan Police.
Shahid is facing charges in two cases: a murder case related to the Anti-discrimination Student Movement in Mirpur and an anti-terrorism case filed with Gulshan Police.

Kamal, a former MP for Dhaka-15, was arrested in Gulshan on Oct 19, 2024, and has been in jail since. Born on March 3, 1950, in Feni, East Bengal, he served as a Member of Parliament for Dhaka-15 from 2009 until his defeat in the 2024 general election.
During his tenure, he held the position of State Minister for Industries from 2019 to 2024. Majumder is also known for his role as the chairman of Mohona TV, a private television channel.
His political career has been marked by several controversies, including allegations of assaulting a journalist in 2012 and establishing an extrajudicial court in his office in 2014. Additionally, his son, Ziauddin Ahmed Majumder Jewel, was sentenced to 40 years in prison in 2002 for the murder of a cell phone trader.
Majumder's political activities and personal life have been subjects of public scrutiny throughout his career.
