Alliance partners within the BNP-led coalition—Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), Ganosamhati Andolan, and Gono Odhikar Parishad—added one seat each.
China described the election as “free and successful” in a statement from its embassy in Dhaka, congratulating the BNP and expressing Beijing’s eagerness to deepen cooperation with the new government. “We look forward to working with the new administration of Bangladesh and writing new chapters in China-Bangladesh relations,” it said. China also highlighted its support for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation under the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Tarique Rahman over the phone, congratulating him on the “remarkable victory” and reaffirming India’s commitment to peace, progress, and prosperity for both nations.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his felicitations on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan. During their conversation, the leaders emphasised the historic and brotherly ties between the two countries and agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation while respecting each other’s sovereignty.
