Khaleda Zia Expresses Concern for Folk Singer Farida Parveen’s Health

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has inquired about the health condition of folk singer and torchbearer of Lalon songs Farida Parveen who is currently undergoing treatment at the Universal Medical College Hospital Limited (Ayesha Memorial Hospital) in the city.

BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince Friday gave the information and said Begum Khaleda Zia asked him on Thursday to inquire about Farida Parveen's health condition.

As per the instruction, the joint secretary general said he went to the hospital on Thursday night and inquired about Lalon singer Farida Parveen's health condition.

“At that time, I talked to doctors and family members. I also visited her in the ICU and informed singer Farida Parveen about Madam Khaleda Zia's concerns for her,” he added.

He said Farida Parveen is one of the favourite artists of Madam Begum Khaleda Zia and she is also a fan of Lalon songs. 

“Madam is very worried after hearing about Farida Parveen's illness. Madam told me to inquire about her health condition. Madam told me she wants to know about Farida Parveen’s health condition and whether she is improving,” he added.

Emran Saleh Prince said the artist's condition has improved somewhat. “I informed Madam of the artist's latest condition last night. Madam said, we should always keep an eye on the artist's health condition,” he added.

Farida Parveen is widely admired for her lifelong dedication to Lalon songs and the folk music of Bangladesh.

The noted 70-year-old singer has been receiving treatment in the ICU of the hospital since July 5.

Farida Parveen has long been suffering from diabetes, kidney problems and various other health issues.
