Heavy rain forecast in three divisions

Express Report
  31 Jul 2025, 18:14

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department expects moderately heavy to very heavy rain in places in the Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions.

In its five-day forecast on Thursday (for 120 hours starting at 9am), the Met Office said that most places in the Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions and many places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions will also see light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds on Thursday.

The day temperature may fall slightly, while the night temperature may remain largely unchanged across the country.

Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Hoque said that, due to the very heavy rainfall, there is a possibility of landslides in some places in the hilly areas of the Chattogram, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Bandarban and Cox's Bazar districts. The rain may also lead to temporary waterlogging in some places in the Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram metropolitan areas.

The rain trend will continue throughout the five days covered in the forecast with temperatures expected to remain largely unchanged or dropping slightly.
