Mariners beat Police in premier hockey

Defending champions Dhaka Mariners Youngs Club finished the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League with a winning note as they beat Police Sporting Club by 4-2 goals held at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Friday.

In the proceeding, Moinul Islam Koushik, Sohanur Rahman Sobuj and Indian recruit Deepak and Rajindar Sing scored one goal each for Mariners while two Indian recruits of Police Sporting Club -- Gurjot Singh and Deepak Patel -- netted one goal each for their team.

The day's win saw, Dhaka Mariners finish at top of the table with 37 points (before Abahani-Mohammedan match) from 15 matches while Bangladesh Police, who stands at fifth position in the point table, remained at their previous collection of 20 points playing the same number of matches.
