
Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farzana has emphasised the importance of officials having thorough knowledge of relevant laws and regulations to uphold government interests and resolve legal matters effectively.
“There is no alternative to following the correct law in official work to build a disciplined society and ensure efficient administration,” she said.
She made the remarks while virtually attending a training workshop on “Laws and Regulations Helpful in Handling Cases, SF Writing Techniques and To-Do” at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in Rangpur on Thursday, where she joined as the chief guest.
The workshop was organised by the Rangpur district administration, with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan attending as special guest.
Sessions were conducted by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Dr Mohammad Altaf-ul-Alam, Law Officer (District Judge) Md Masud Parvez, Joint Secretary Dr Md Alam Mostafa, and Deputy Secretary Sharmin Sultana. The resource persons discussed responding to government cases, preparing Statements of Facts (SF), and the application of various laws in detail.
Mahbuba Farzana urged government officials and employees involved in handling cases to maintain close communication with lawyers and exercise utmost care in presenting accurate information, evidence, and arguments. “Proper understanding of the relevant rules and laws makes it easier to ensure justice and fairness for both plaintiffs and defendants,” she said.
She encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop to strengthen the government’s ability to enforce the law while serving the country with dedication.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan highlighted the practical importance of legal knowledge, saying, “As government officials and employees, it is our responsibility to have a clear understanding of the law. Handling cases correctly protects government property and helps avoid prolonged legal proceedings and complications.”
He urged trainees to utilise the knowledge acquired during the workshop effectively in their workplace.
Twenty-five officials and employees from the Department of Information, Department of Mass Communication, Bangladesh Betar, and Bangladesh Television working in the Rangpur division took part in the training.
