Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said there is no security concern surrounding August 5. Speaking to reporters at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat on Wednesday (July 30), he reassured, “If Allah wills, everything will be fine,” amid reports of ongoing law enforcement activities.

When asked about the 11-day special operation reportedly tied to August 5, the Home Adviser clarified that there is no countrywide drive underway. “This is not a nationwide operation. The ongoing activities are being conducted solely by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP),” he said.

In response to a direct question about whether any specific threat or security risk exists around August 5, he reiterated, “No, there is no security issue regarding August 5. If Allah wills, everything will be good.”

On the recent attack on members of the Hindu community in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur district, the adviser stated that those responsible would be held accountable. “All involved in the attack will be brought to justice,” he said.

Commenting on the arrival of a Malaysian police delegation in Dhaka—following the arrest of Bangladeshi nationals in Malaysia for alleged links to militancy—Chowdhury said, “The Malaysian police team paid a courtesy call on me.” He added that discussions may be held between the delegation and Bangladesh Police regarding the matter.

Responding to a separate query on visa policy, the Home Adviser said that Bangladesh offers visas on arrival to nationals of countries with which it has formal agreements. “We are issuing visas on arrival where such agreements exist,” he noted.
